Title: my hive is a mess
Post by: Anonymous on July 18, 2004, 10:28:25 pm
I started a hive this April from a swarm.
We are in a good honey flow with temps in the 100’s F.
I checked the progress on the third super today, no progress noted
in the last 3 weeks. The brood chamber is full except the
Out side frames and the 2nd super is full with un-capped honey. This honey
is dripping down and making a mess of the hive.

Its like the bees are not using the frames, I can pull the frames out and the comb
Stays in a big lump.

I have noticed for the last 3 weeks that some bees are becoming stuck together
And leaving the hive connected by their legs.

Any help on why uncapped honey in the 2nd super, the brood chamber has capped honey?

Thanks

Are they getting any water?  Do they get any shade?  Sounds like they are having some problems controlling hive temperature.  How's the ventilation?  SBB?  Maybe offset a super to help?
