Did this one yesterday. Man had bees last year at rear right, this time front right.

You know those junky aluminum ones can't handle much but they sure are light to carry. Yeah, I was stressing it!

Friend!  :-D

I enjoyed the video. When you do these cutouts, do you have to repair the owners building back to the way it looked before you started? Larry

Not always, I did on this one because he changed his mind and wanted it done.

Great video as always Jp! You make it look so easy! I have a question about the comb. After you put it in frames and into a new hive, do you keep that comb or do you swap it out for frames with foundation? Will the bees add to the existing comb to fill out the frame?

The bees worked hard to build that comb so I give it to them. They will fill out the frames to the point you can't tell it was from a cut out.

That's a lot of climbing up and down the ladder when you're without your trusty helpers, JP (which, I might add, I think you did with the grace of an athlete) :)

The captions made me laugh.

Thanks Liz, had to do that as I didn't have that great of a camera angle as you can see by the footage.  :-D

JP,
I noticed you using a staple gun to install makeshift hive staples.  Do you find that those hold up well during transport?  If so, what size staples are you using?

PS. I enjoyed the video too, as always.

James, purchased the staple gun from Sears and use the extra wide heavy duty crown, pretty sure that's what its called. Will modify this post with the correct info if that's not what it is.

They hold up pretty well for transport after a job but if moving lots of hives on a trailer I would go with ratchet straps or actual hive body staples, those big suckers.

JP,
Nice job as always. I've noticed before that you cage the queen. Is that to make sure she doesn't run off? Or just to be sure of where she is later?

Yeah, and as was previously mentioned, about that ladder...

PeeVee, if she goes they go, so when I find her she is going to be caged and placed into the set up which helps the bees orient to the set up that much faster.

Another gooder Bro!

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.
