Bees are swarming here in Central Arkansas
« on: April 10, 2013, 11:45:26 pm »
Since last Saturday I have received 5 swarm calls and have them all on the hive stands.
I got a call yesterday afternoon and this afternoon received another call exactly 1 block to the north of the swarm I got yesterday.
Both calls came from animal control in town.
Sooooo being the good feller I am I got the swarm with my Bee Vac.
I walk'd into the lobby of the Animal control Center and said "Ya'll take in wild critters?"
They said sometimes soooo I put that cage full of bees on the counter top kinda hard making the bees fall to the bottom and start buzz'n.
Them gals eye's got big as silver dollars and took off a runn'n.
Well they came back and said I was a Crazy ole Codger.
I had me some fun with them folks for sure. :-D

That's a good one. sounds similar to what I did last year on a swarm call I went on during lunch from work. I put them in a carboard box and taped it up and brought it back to work. when the day was over I picked up the box and started to leave and one of the Cops asked what I had and I said a wild animal. he got noise and said he had to see it. I told him and his partner give me 50 bucks and I would open it. they said they wanted to look inside so I plot the box on the counter and they started buzzing. the look in their
Eyes was priceless.

Rookies just don't get it.

John

P.S. they still haven't payed me.

Wished it would start in TN.  My luck I will prolly get a few calls while at Bud5.  I guess it's ok though, we'll be catching enough while we're they're.

Hey cap.  I lived in Conway for better part of 20 years.
You near Faulkner county?

Good stuff Capt...

I lived in North Little Rock for over 30 years and before moving to Florida. Still got some family there. It gets kinda of ruff for us Hawgs down here in the heart of Gator country....(especially after this past season) but we still fly the color faithfully every Saturday.

Next time I have to run that way I may just give ya a shout!

Sounds like your bee season is going very well, congrats!

I'm in White County, Arkansas but Faulkner County is about 15 miles or so west of me.
I'm a registered swarm catcher here.
I cover the counties of Faulkner, Northern Pulaski, Lonoke, Prairie, Woodruff, Cleburne, and White.
The swarms are going to get going full force pretty quick.
All of my hives have swarm cells in them.
I do Trap-Outs also.
