My Intro in SW PA
« on: September 22, 2008, 05:37:49 pm »
Hello All,  I was invited to register after emailing a whole bunch of beekeeping questions to the Beemaster.  I bought 2 hives last Fall and have been struggling to understand what is going on with them.  It seems that the problems I have are caused by the old foundation that came in the hives.  So, I will be doing my best to replace it gradually and consolidating what I do have.  I'm sure I'll have a miriad of questions as time goes on.  I think my motivation for beekeeping has been a desire to become as self sufficient as possible.  We raise meat goats, broilers, laying hens, have a huge garden, sell at the Farmer's Market and make maple syrup.  My dad was a beekeeper in his college days and was always fascinated by bees and other insects.  I think he passed that on to me!

Jeanne, welcome to our forum.  Your Dad more than likely instilled a love to keep bees, he has set a wonderful example for you.  Your bees will pollinate your gardens, increasing your bounty by enormous amounts, you have already probably found that out.  So nice that you are involved with farming, as you are.  This forum can be a place where your questions will be answered, ask all the questions you need, never consider any question to be insignificant or dumb, all are important.  We all learned by asking questions too, that is the best way to learn.  Stick around, you will always enjoy your times spent here, and as Mt1849 said, you will indeed make some new and good friends too.  Have the most wonderfully awesome day.  Cindi

Hi Jeanne--

You might not notice this post, since you posted so long ago, but it's nice to meet another person here on Greene County. I'll be peddling my honey at the Ramp Fest in Mt. Morris in April. Drop on by if you're in the neighborhood!
