Queen Laying
« on: March 26, 2009, 05:18:02 pm »
Hi,

I've a ?

Will the queen lay on and off now while the temp is still low?

Or

Does she have to wait till there is sustained temp?

I have noticed lots of bees coming in and out during some of the warmer days we had last week here.

Does the cluster fully break up during these warmer spells and re-group when it cools again.

Irish Weather  :-D :-D :-D

The cluster will only break, and release forage bees NOT needed to keep the brood at the correct temp.

I'm sure many queens lay intermittently as room, cluster, temps, and other factors dictate. There would not be a way the bees could cover all the eggs at night if she layed as many as she could.
