That isn't what I've read...but then again I'm in MI and not worrying about it too much....but if it will make the public feel better.....

Unfortunatly it's not quite true. AHB are genetically superior and dominant. The problem is their DNA is building up not being whittled down. The AHB drones are more numerous.

The number of AHB hives being found (in Florida) is on it's way up and soon it will be like S. America which is basically nothing but AHB.

The thing is dealing with AHB isn't impossible. They can be mean but so can normal bees.

It's more a matter of the bee getting a lot of bad press. Not that some of it isn't deserved but it gets overblown.

If you throw rocks and poke sticks at a hive or bulldoze a wall filled with bees. They will get pissy, doesn't matter what type. Go into a hive after a rainfall and tell me how sweet and wonderful you bees are. After you remove all the stingers.

The article was still overall a nice one. He understands we need more young beekeepers he isn't paniced about all the crap out there. I like that.
