Here is the RAW FOOTAGE taken at Bud3 the last few days. I will keep adding them as I get a chance
http://www.youtube.com/bud32011 (http://www.youtube.com/bud32011) (that is easy bud3 and 2011 together)
Check out what is uploading. Adults need to be with younger folk only, if only for some rough language :)
I have 2.5 hours of RAW VIDEOS but I know a few of them should NOT go on-line :-D
Enjoy and comment please. TRY TO SEE THEM in the file name order.

What no bunk-jumping contest coverage?
-
DANG!! You all are having too much fun and have not even gotten started yet. Sure wish I could have made it down there.
-
Dang....... I can not believe Bud shot that swarm down out of that tree with a pistol.
-
I wan't to say thank's to who ever is posting the video's on Youtube they are all great.
-
Beemaster here doing the video and uploading. Lots of them still to come. It is all raw, when edited, it will be nice :)
-
OH gosh I have to go to work now, will have to wait and see these.

JP, that was hilarious! Good job with the video and editing.
-
That was fun. How do you decide what to keep and what to throw back??
I felt truly honored by you guys playing around with the red parasols and mentioning my name. It made me laugh!! Looks like you truly had a great time.
-
We got there on Wed around 4:00 and it was all about bees from then until we left Mon morning.

Big Daddy, that looked like a Golden Bee ventilated hat you were wearing, looked kinda cool with them holes and all. Man, Schawee called me, said he done found both queens in them videos with Scott, Peggy & You before he even watched 'em! :-D
Man, y'all need to get you a Schawee, that way you always know where the queens are, he always gonna be yelling right where they are! :-D

Hey all... got home fine last night after 3 hours of delays total DUE to traffic backup in the airports I was flying too.
I swear... NO ONE seemed to have a more "eye-opening" fun time that Ziffa! Every time I saw her she was smiling so big and full of bee stories :)
I'll be hooking up with Bud to download ALL the videos I took (I had to download them onto his computer when my camera got full) and we'll be sending them to me via Skype which is quick with file transfer.
Everyone who showed up at Bud3 was a please to meet or see again. I hope I never missed anyone, I love spending time with each member when I can.
Lots more videos coming. I think when I BULK UPLOAD the videos it truncates the length. I see a lot os shorter TIMES listed in the videos uploaded, most were around 4-5 minutes, I see a few really long ones, but I may (as I name the videos) re-upload them using the Youtube uploader.
GREAT WEEK - such a fun time :)

JP:
I forgot to mention your comment on my Flip Cam - thanks. It is a really stunning 1080p and 2 of those cams fit in an empty pack of cigarettes - amazing.
Serious draw backs though:
no macro feature - literally a foot is about how close you want to come, but resolution is so high, you really don't need to macro as much as you think.
Only 2X zoom - and that is a joke. My next camera will have the kind of power Scott's camera did 60X Optical Power.
The other faults I can live with - it gives me a great picture (although every Flip user complains about the shakiness cause it does not have image stabilization either.
But for it's size, it does sound reproduction very well and adjusts to color brightness change almost instantly.
I like it, my original one was the heftier model which allowed you to switch out dead batteries, that one died in it's USB connection - camera works fine but can't connect to computer. I wonder.... do I have access to THAT thick cams files THRU the HDMI connection - cool, I need to try that.
Anyway, your videos are great. I walked in a little late and didn't know we had Annette theme going on, as an inside joke, I'd be dressed and walk like a Zombie - :lau:
JP didn't realize it takes me a minute to get into character with my Jersey Boy Redneck Youtube invention I so dearly love to do :-D I like the editing jobs you did.
SCOTT... just getting to yours now. Something tells me I talked through most of those with Peggy - lol Sorry, that's when I bring out the musical soundtracks :)
-
John, it only seemed to take you about a minute to get into character, Yankee Redneck! :-D
...JP
-
I like that name Yankee Redneck!!!
I told Bud before Bud3 I was gonna stay in character all day just to bust some chops :)

Not much of a video here. Just a clip or two of Geoff, Peggy and Beemaster cutting up a bit and JP and iddee helping Liz (ziffa) find her new queen.

I saw them with the umbrellas. Thought it was another theme, but I knew it was lovable and friendly whatever it was.

I loved how that log hive just swarmed out in front of you guys. You were in really deep with the bees over there. Boy, it never happens around here.
Very exciting experiences for you all.
And have to tell you that I heard kathyp speaking in the background, and she does sound like me. LOL!!

Hey folks, this here is a very special video of Iddee demonstrating his trap out methods. He discusses in detail the mechanics of a trap out. In my opinion this info is priceless coming from a true master of the trap out.
Thank you Wally for taking the time to explain the processes in detail. I believe this video will prove to be invaluable to many beeks!

i told Chris to take the pics of all the trucks because it's a mortal sin to drive anything bigger than a Honda when you live in (non-rural) Oregon. it's only a minor sin to drive something that is not a hybrid.
-
Great demo on the trapout!!
-
I really enjoyed Kathy's pics because you can really see what the place looks like. Very clear and just a very different view of things.
Thanks for posting these Kathy

Good job bringing us the trap out video JP! Maybe that should be in Iddee's trap out thread?
Thanks for the demo Iddee!
Scott
-
i forgot to mention how much i enjoyed meeting JP's wife. she's not a beekeeper, but she was up there watching lots of the demos. she's very sweet and seemed kind of quiet, but when she was stung multiple times, she demonstrated a remarkable vocabulary!!
didn't want her left out, because she was a joy to be with.
-
Agreed Kathy! Any woman who can convince her husband to travel with her bunny, is alright in my book! JP - you are one lucky guy! Still sad I missed meeting the bunny :(.

I am so happy you had a chance to visit with all these special people Bud. I watched all the videos and I saw on your face how happy you were to be around everyone. Perhaps one day I will get to spend some time with you as well. I can tell you are very sweet and loving.

I had the opportunity to meet Liz last year in New Orleans and I hit it off with her right from the start. She is just a wonderful person, very fun loving, easy going. I think they make a great couple !!

Folks, at least one more Bud3 video coming. Next one, perhaps the last is of KathyP's husband Chris (The Photographer) and Paul from Brandon, Ms doing a cut out of one of Bud's bait hives.
I have more pictures to share as well.
Hard to believe I took that much footage!

Keep them coming.

I've got more footage too that I haven't even looked at yet. I think most of it is the same stuff that JP got and only from a different angle. Sorry for making anyone wait...I'll get to it when I can :)

Hard to believe this is the sixth video I made from Bud3s and there just might be one more to follow folks! Lots of interaction, fun and bickering on this one as Chris & Paul do their first ever cut out.

That was great Bro! Now you have Liz getting stung on video...the whole "My husband popped me in the eye" thing doesn't stand a chance in court!!
Scott
-
Is that when Liz got stung?? I didn't see you attending to her, so I thought she hadn't gotten stung yet.
-
Even though this is the "uncensored" video section I just had to add that buzzer to filter my bride's filthy mouth after she was stung. :-D
Annette, this wasn't the coup de gras that did Liz in, it was another one that came later.
Yes Scott, I have proof that I didn't give her a standing eight count. :-D
Kathy, I hope Chris likes the video, he was a big help.

Great one there, loved it. You did a very good job there JP. Thanks for giving us it.
-
Every now and then I learn something new with this whole movie making thing. This one took a good bit longer to make but was well worth the extra effort. They are so much fun to put together. I'm just now really getting caught up with them since Bud3 because of my busy schedule and the good bit of footage I took over at Bud's.
I'm very happy that you guys are enjoying them as well.
Thanks for your feedback!

OK but you will have to bring a cooler full of food for me or I will starve to death :-D :-D
-
annette, that is one thing you will not do. There's more food at buds than will ever be eaten.
And the best of the best, at that.
-
starve? never happen. as a last resort...there is honey

Annette, we can see to it that you don't starve to death. If for some reason you run out of food Liz will give you some of Bubba Fet's! :-D

Finally got a chance to start going through some more footage from Bud3 and thought ya'll might like this angle on the bee log swarm. It's totally raw and unedited.
log swarm @ Bud3.wmv (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_fx4xdlNmY#)
Bee log by hardwood
Tanging by iddee
Masterful camera work by Ziffa :)
-
thanks all. i shared that on FB.
-
OH that was so wonderful. What a big swarm and loved the footage of them coming out of the log like that. What great fun you guys had and such a great learning experience.
-
Call me crazy, but I think Iddee was knocking all the bees off the cluster with the sound waves from the bucket banging like a cruise-ship blasts Somalies off the deck of a modern pirate ship. Never seen them fall from a cluster like that before. His method was effective, it was the results that I scratch my head on when I saw then reform into 3 distinct clusters.
I can see where THIS method can come in handy to DISLODGE a queen causing her to retake flight an land in a better opportune place for the beekeeper to catch the swarm, but once landed in a better place, I'd be putting the bucket down.
Cool display of sound in motion.
My mentor SHOWED me sound one time by parking his truck toward an open field with a dense tree line about 800ft away. He said "Want to see my horn?" I didn't quite understand the question, but said "Sure." and thought we were going to get out of the truck...
It was night and lightly raining, he put on his high beams and HELD his horn down for about 3 seconds - the sound went across the field, bounced off the trees and came back a few seconds later and the light rain vibrated before my eyes for the full three seconds - amazing!
And if you don't think Iddee's bucket was loud, if he had aimed it at you, you would have felt it as well as heard it. Iddee, very interesting display indeed.
-
Was that a compliment or complaint? :?
Of all the many, many swarms I have ever drummed, "or tanged", I have never seen them fall like that either, so I don't think it was the sound that caused it.
-
skinny branch and wind.
-
I knew you'd ask that Iddee - :-D
It was a compliment indeed, I just was saying that I believe and still do that (whether a skinny branch or not) that the precussion of the drumming (of a bucket) makes a huge sound wave and our little friends would experience a heck of a blast of waves - again IMHO.
The show Shark Tank (wealthy investors looking for unique businesses to put money into) just last night showed a man with a little device that when attached to a waste can, box, almost anything with volumetric space, would turn that item into a loud booming speaker. Look at a bass speaker and feel the air movement when it is cranked up, just examples.
Even the military uses sound device to break up crowds and literally incapacitate people. I think it was cool to see, and watching it again I could almost time the collapse of the cluster to the beat of the bucket - it was something that most of use rarely see done, and again it was pretty bada$$ indeed.
-
scott, that was some good footage of the bees coming out the log.by the way ,when we went back to buds last week i checked on the speaker bees and they have a new queen and she is laying .bad news is that the log bees that you brought left the log.i told bud they didn't like being brought this far north that they are heading back your way. ...schawee
-
Yeah I heard from Bud that they left. I'm waiting for a collect call from them asking for bus fare.
Scott
