I know we have quite a range of folks here on the forum, everything from newbie's to seasoned veterans...just curious how it breaks down.

I started in 2006. If it wouldn't have been for meeting so many people though the forum and our voice chat,it may have been another hobby that went by the wayside. With almost nightly voice chats with so many, the forum has become an extended family. And the bees were the common thread for meeting everyone.

April 2008 for me. About 20 years too late. :'(
-
around '78 with a couple of gaps between then and now with no bees.

April the seventh will make me two years. I started with three packages. That summer was the worst drought in one hundred years. Between the drought and my ineptness all three package lived into the next summer. It was the second year of the drought. Those hives built up to a 10 frame deep and a 10 frame medium. I am hoping for a good honey harvest this year. I also have three splits that I bought last summer. All of my hives look good as of this moment.
I wish I had started beekeeping sooner.

WOW!!! I am surprised by the results. I expected more with a little more experience.

Been a hobby beek with 3-5 hives since '91 when my dad died and I got his three hives and a garage full of boxes and equipment. The mites shut me down in the late 90's for a few years then got back into it and have been doing it ever since.

This will be my first year... Green is an understatement... ...lol

i've got a friend with a ranch in del rio and he has to haul water in every day from a neighbor's place. he paid over 100k to get a well drilled to the aquifer and after 6 months they finally hit it and the water is so acidic it corrodes the pumps. hope it gets better for you guys.

1976 or 77, I started hauling 2000 hives between Wisconsin and Florida, spring and fall, for a commercial guy. Got my own bees about that time, too.

Started keeping bees in 1975 and slowly built up to 90 hives before giving it all away in 1993. Started up again 2011 but I now only have 4 hives which I will probably increase to 10 towards the end of Spring.
