Virgin queen, mated and laying
« on: June 17, 2007, 12:32:10 pm »
This picture of the 3 queen cells is one that I found in my overwintered colony.  When I saw this, I made a nuc with the colony, moving the queen and some capped brood to the new nuc.  This nuc is building very nicely.  I allowed the bees to continue to raise their queen.  Upon my last look at the overwintered colony, the queen was indeed mated and she was laying eggs like crazy.  I expect some pretty good build up with this little nuc in 6 weeks or so.  Yeah!!!  Have a wonderful day, great life.  Cindi

There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service
