i am still getting warnings and stuff on some image shack pics. they are yrojan horse and key logger things. i realize that most are probably just annoying cookies, but since i have disabled 3rd party cookies and they are still coming though, it's a concern. it's not just one at a time. it's many spewed out from one picture.

Kathy, can you forward a link in PM?

ken, i can't. i just copied that from the warning that popped up right before my computer insisted i delete those files. this is on my new computer. windows 7 with MacAfee. fairly high security because i have to. 3rd party cookies disabled. that's about as much tweaking as i have done to this new computer.
i might change my firewall settings and try again. firewall is tweaked for reasons i'll have to tell you later :-).
-
Don't risk your computer for my sake!!!! I thought maybe you could just get the link from the post without opening it.Or refer to the post that has the link to the image in question if it's on this forum
-
I like pie Kathy. Can't you tell? :-D

Kathy I knew our brains were operating on the same wavelength.
Windows all the way!
I’ve been getting a lot of these fake virus warnings when looking at photos from ImageShack too. I assume it’s probably from some commercial advertiser on their site as opposed to anything image related. It’s kind of hard to hide a virus in a .jpeg file format (or so I think).
The fake viruses come and go, sometimes they pop up, sometimes they don’t.
When these fake virus warnings pop up, I usually close them down via the Task Manager since it would likely be un-wise to click any “buttons” on the windows at that point. Buttons can be programmed behind the scenes to do things differently than what the “text” on the button says.

i'm going to clean this thing up again and dump my restore points. if i did pick something up and it's in there, that's one thing i have not done. thing is, it only happens with image shack. no other program or site.

Anytime you use a computer with Graphical user interface think Apple. They were first to bring it to market along with that silly mouse to move around and point and click on things.
Jobs and Gates both saw this prototype at xerox I believe it was. Gates decided to build on his DOS and sell to IBM while Steve Jobs built on the graphical interface.
Apple has been the leader in innovation which is why microsoft bought into apple in the nineties.
Back to the thread.
I am using firefox with the adbloc plus add on. I have yet to see any of these warnings.I ran My IE on the same links and got no response of this type. I am running Norton now,was using Mcaffee until comcast switched to Norton. I likes macaffe a lot more than old versions of Norton, but the newer Norton security seems less intrusive to my personal machine.
I'll drop a pm to Robo and see if he has any ideas.
-
in the mean time, i'll do a little research. seems like it might be a script that is probably harmless, but setting off my stuff at the current settings. it's not that i'm that worried about it, but it's sure annoying.
-
Best to err on the side of caution. Keeping a bug out is easier than getting rid of it.

found this, but don't know if it applies.

Kathy your not the only one with that problem. It happen's when I look at some pic's and some times when i try to post a pic.
-
I'm not gonna gloat. But having windows is the computer equivalent of running from chicken restaurant to chicken restaurant and licking the unwashed cutting boards. I can totally sympathize.
-
licking the board is good for your immune system

Bleh!
