Trap-out in Lowell, NC
« on: May 31, 2011, 10:12:07 pm »
I started a trap-out in a poplar tree. Here are some photos. I had to reset the trap twice because of the tree and all the holes  prevented me from finding all on the first day.

The entrace of the hive is 12ft. up the tree.

Thanks to Iddee and Scott for all the info. There are about 10 queen cell on this frame. If I had more equipement to do more splits I would take some of the queen cells and put them in the splits.

Good job! I'm glad it's working well for you!

Scott
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Update on the trap-out, I checked on them Friday and did not see any leaving the cone. Saturday, I brought them home due to them being so far. They were flying today and seemed to doing good.

It was a swarm that moved in only about 2 to 3 weeks before I started it. So I only got about three frames of bees.
