Is this a new hive or started from a package or nuc?

If they look like a traffic jam at the entrance open it up to the larger size or remove it all together.   Right now I have been running without  my entrance reducer since the middle of April.

If the blueberry nectar flow is on in your area of Maine,  you could remove it all the way, too.

1/4" in June?  Is it a hive?  A package?  A recent small swarm?  Any hive by now should be wide open.  Any package, unless it's struggling should need more room than that.  My criteria is always to look for a traffic jam.  If there is a traffic jam it's too small.

actually i meant 3\4 inch, and it is a new hive (package) from which imhave removed the reducer now. i wasn't sure if i needed to wait for warmer temps.  thats why i asked.
