Hellow from N Las Vegas NV
« on: June 28, 2012, 11:11:26 pm »
I just got my bees Apr.28, 2012
Two 3 lb. packages haven't had any bees for 30 yrs.
When I was in Ohio, Waynsburg I had 4 hives.
My bees have built up real well have been going through the hives every Wednesday.
Last Wednesday I took 6 queen cells from one hive took two frames of honey gave them two frames of foundation.
And reversed the two bottom supers (shallows)
So far I have taken 6 frames of sealed Honey from the hives.
I live in a neighbor hood the bees are in my back yard and as far as I know nowone knows I have them.
Am having fun getting back into beekeeping.

Well last Wednesday I went through my two hives, the hive that I took the 6 queen cells out of the previous week, had no brood no larva, I thought it was queenless.
So I took a frame of brood from my other hive, it had some sealed brood open larva and eggs and gave it to the hive I thought was queenless.
That was last Thursday, then on Monday three days later I looked in the hive.
I expected to see some queen cells but low and behold I saw a queen.
They must have replaced the origonal queen I don't think they swarmed because the hive is just as strong as it was befor all of this happened.
So thats whats up with me.

Maybe they were queen less just for a little while.   Is that queen laying yet?
