Oldfasioned hives

I will get three oldfashioned hives (without frames ) this May. How could I transfer the bees to LR haves? May I just put them over LR and wait?
And what then with old haves?
Any suggestion please!

It would be good idea to put old hive over LR. Old combs will be filled with honey and it press bees, brood and pollen down. When you see that queen is laying eggs in new box, you put exluder between old and new combs. When 3 weeks have gone you may cut old combs away and extract honey.

Then put escape board and bees move way from old part. Then cut combs.  http://www.betterbee.com/products.asp?dept=1223  or http://www.bindaree.com.au/images/escape_board_300x200.jpg
