I would find the biggest and closest commercial beek and knock on door. Also look in magazines. Maybe call ag dept to find those commefcial beeks if you dont know where they exist.

look on the internet at the Michigan Beekeepers Assn. or the department of agriculture.  If you see raw honey for sale somewhere, ask who the supplier is - especially at a feed store> Good luckl. Gena

This was a great place to start.  If you can't find the local bee club try the county extension agent and see if they can either get you in touch with a club or a local beekeeper.  See if you can get your FFA person's help.  They may also know some people who know some people.

Jordan,
If you do not find a beekeeper to work with, how about a state park? I have an observation hive at a local state park and take part in their summer "fireside chat" series. Which basically is programs to educate the campers and give them something to do on Friday and Saturday nights. I volunteer, but it might be a great "In" (being a beekeeper) with talking about a summer job. Now would be a good time to stop in, introduce yourself, and see if they are hiring for the summer. Talk to the naturalist if they have one employed.

Having worked at a state park might open to other things of interest and it never hurt to have such a thing on a future resume'.

Good Luck.

Bee Happy Jim, did you have to go around school with your thumb dyed green back then?

I just told every body I liked wearing a green glove on one hand.   Of course my FFA project was bees, honey and pollination.
