Any Queens in Australia at the moment?
« on: July 23, 2010, 09:29:07 am »
Hey Guys,

I'm going to take a guess and say there is no queen in the log i got about two weeks ago - had a quick inspection today and alas - no brood. I know it's a long shot, i know it's the wrong time of year etc etc but does anyone in australia have any queen bees? The foragers are bringing in a nice amount of nectar and pollen to support brood - i'm also feeding and i can somehow heat the hive if need be. I want to try and give these guys a shot though and i think giving them a queen would be the best way...

Can anyone help? i'd love some frames of brood/bees etc but that isnt going to happen down here (I'm in Melbourne) so i have to try my luck introducing a queen with the bees i have in the log.

They're moving quite well in to the medium drawn frames afrom the log i have sitting above the frames nd they've almost filled a frame full of nectar and pollen...

hi
i don't think you get any queens till late spring.you could join them up with another hive then split it later on when queens are available.
