It's my first year with top bar hive. What do I need to do with leftovers of honey and syrup?
-
We need a little more info. Why do you have honey and syrup leftover. Did your bees die? How old is the syrup?
-
My bees aren't dead. All of the stored honey is on top of the combs and combs are connected to the bar. Is there a different way to do it besides cutting it down or bees will take care of it?
-
I would leave them the honey as it is still early. Isn't it still cold there?
-
.
wait for early summer and put those combs frame by frame between brood frames and bees will clean then and move honey to another combs - what ever they are...
Rub a little cappings broken that bees start cleaning
If bees clean outside of hive the combs, they will break badly the cells.

I've noticed that. Why do they do that? Are they taking the wax back to the hive to use?
