Fl. freeze
« on: January 23, 2009, 07:13:00 pm »
After 3 nights straight of below freezing temps (in the teens) the Orange trees around me look pitiful. I'm praying its just the leaves and small limbs, I reckon all the newly set out seedlings here are gone, bark is already splitting on them today. It's a dump (not trickle) down effect on us counting on citrus honey. If the mature trees survive, it should be good because they should increase their bloom set numbers.

Rick, sorry to hear about the citrus.  Hopefully temps didn't stay so cold for long.  Strawberry folks had a rough time of it as well.  3 nights of hard freeze for us too.  Very rare.  Frost was so thick it looked like a dusting of snow.  That with palm trees is just wrong!   Bees were back out today and were happy.  My wife's tomatoes and lettuce not so much! Glad I got the terrarium heater for the nuc.

Good ol Fl. weather. The dogs water was froze over this morning and at 3:30 this afternoon I'm holding up a bee frame squinting at the brood.
