Title: Dryad's Saddle, Hawk's Wing, Pheasant Back, Polyporus squamosus? Anyone???
Post by: joker1656 on April 17, 2010, 12:38:11 pm
I went shrooming today.  No Morels, but found Dryad's Saddle (I hope  ;))  I have never tried these mushrooms before.  I had done some reading on different edibles, but was not sure.

I picked some and brought them home.  I then did some more reading and convinced myself that they were what I thought they were.  I sauteed them, ate them, and am still alive to type here.  LOL

They tasted great, so if they kill me then I guess I will die with happy tastebuds.

I just wondered if anyone has tried them also.  I am going to give the puffball a try when fall rolls back in.  Any thoughts on that one?

Sounds good!  There's a few dedicated shroomers around here.  I'm not, although I'd like to get out in the woods looking.  All I have is a big patch of shaggy parasols in my yard that are top-notch!! :)

I have hunted for a few years.  Still bunches to learn.  It is just a great excuse to get out there...

Are shaggy parasols the same thing as "Lawyer's wig".  Do they turn into a black goo eventually?
