Hello from North Florida
« on: August 17, 2013, 10:20:15 pm »
Greetings all, I have been keeping bees for about 6 years and currently have an apiary that is somewhere between a business and a hobby, near Gainesville FL. I used to have an account under irerob here some years ago and have missed you guys. So now that I may be able to help out as well as learn more form the old timers I am happy to throw my hat back into the ring. Both as mentor and student.
I hope to eventually grow out of the hobby and into a full time business. I currently keep both Top Bar and Langstoth  hives and believe they both have advantages over the other and it largely depends on what you want out of your bees as to which is the best one for a person to keep.
You don't need a parachute to skydive, You do however need one to skydive more than once.

Welcome back, Bob.  I also see some advantages in both, I have been thinking about building a long hive.  Twenty Langstroth frames on bottom and supers on top in the middle.  Good luck to you and your bees.
