How to remove beeswax off glass jars?

Stubborn beeswax somehow got on some jelly jars...for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove so I can reuse the jars for jelly....hhhhmmm
I put water in them then micro waved hoping the wax would melt off into the water....no luck. I tried freezing the jars hoping that the wax would crack off, no luck...any ideas?

hey Sharon!
maybe, when you put the jars in the boiling water to sterilize them the wax will come off.

Boiling water would be my advice as well. I know when my glass votive candle holders get waxed built up on the sides and bottom let very hot water run on them.
Some of the wax slides off but the rest I am able to scrape off easily.
Good luck with it. :)

Maybe if you heat the jars dry, and then wipe them with a paper towel. A layer of molten wax will stick even when in water.

Hi folks
Some times I will take capping and such out to the hives and let the bees clean them up. Some times it takes a week for me to get back to the hives. OH did I mention I put the cappings on my wifes dinner plates. She really loves me
I then will through the plates into a pot of boiling water and the wax comes right off.

BUT.... So what if there is a bit of wax in the jelly?

Well, I have tried boiling them...guess I will keep doing it until it is off...I can't believe how beeswax adheres to glass, or anything for that matter.
Thanks for your kind help...

Scads, do you mean use a hair dryer maybe? I was able to boil some of the wax off, but now there is wax film on my saucepan...ugh, sort of reminds me of "the trouble with Tribbles"...
