Title: Blessing or curse IDK
Post by: Stevezone5 on July 17, 2013, 11:37:25 pm
First year beek here.....I was worried at the beginning of the reactions that my family may have stings. So far the only bad reaction to a sting has been the temperament of my wife. As for myself I have only been stung 4X's since late April. The first time was during a cut out (on a finger) , the second was using the "nitral (sp)" gloves (on a finger), and the most recently 2x's 1/4" apart (on my elbow) during a "lift the inner cover and take a peek" inspection.

My only reaction is swipe the obliviously irritated bee away.

I don't swell or itch.  just a pin head size bump the next day.

What are your experiences with little or no reaction to a sting early on?

I do understand that each individual body has it's own tolerance but I am wondering?

My hopes are that my individual tolerance stays the same.

Thanks Steve

sounds like you'll be fine.  if you move carefully and don't go through hives at the wrong time you'll find that most of the stings you get will be from accidentally mashing the bees.
i'm told that anyone can suddenly have a reaction at any time but i don't know if that's a fact.  i know i itch and swell more in the spring after a few months of not being stung and after a few weeks of going through the hives i don't itch or swell at all.
