trap out question
« on: May 24, 2010, 10:25:18 pm »
When doing a trap out, do you HAVE to use a hive body with eggs and some brrod or can I use an fairly established Nuc with a laying queen.  here' the situation:  A swarm moved into a tree cavity earlier this week.  Homeowners want bees removed.  Can I just set of the nuc with the cone a will the bees just join the Nuc or would a nuc/hive body with only eggs be more successful?

A nuc has worked the one and only time I have tried it. I would think it will work again, although the swarm may abscond before you get a good number of bees to take up with the nuc.
