Title: Beginning New Hives Next to Established Hive
Post by: jataylor on January 10, 2013, 09:22:28 am
I will be starting a new hive in March.  The location I have available is on a raised platform and would be approximately 2 feet from an established hive.  Other than an entrance reducer on the new hive, are there any suggestions to prevent robbing?

way to funny.   :-D  Had thought about putting one of those bathtub appliques on the front of the new hive.  Seems to be the same effect except I don't have to look at either one of the clowns you mentioned!  My hives are natural stain and not white, so the white "flower" would be a noticeable difference.

@Maryland Beekeeper-Great pics.  The key seems to be something for them to orient on and associate with as "their" hive.  Thanks.

Be careful with the sugar water.  That is what really sets off the robbing.

Drew, I’m starting to fear you may have become obsessed with those Slovenian bee houses!
