That was a tree I cut and brought in late last fall. It was too late in the year to do a cutout then, so I left it until spring. I decided to use it for a workshop for newbies. The five guys there have at most, two years experience at beekeeping. We started at noon and were cleaned up and watching the bees orient at 2:30.
They had come through the winter quite well and were very strong. Not many stores, but we filled 8 frames with brood and still didn't get it all in the hive. We had about 8 gallons of honey, brood, drone, and empty comb. We left it for the bees to clean up. It was done in my beeyard, so there was no hurry to move them. The guy I gave them too left with them about 5:00. Yes, it was only one colony, and we did get the queen.
