Well, yes, we do know of this contamination, unlike the Romans, but it must be noted that it is doubtful this is widely known or cared about. The fact may be there, but unless people pay attention, its not of much benefit. I'm not saying that this should be accepted, I'm just saying that by and large, it has been, and this trend is likely to continue in the US. there has been some growth in people caring about organic, right? I'm sure that might offer some influence in this issue and reducing contamination, but until it turns to be the general opinion, I doubt there will be much change in pesticide practices.
