External colony in Chinese Tallow tree.

Try not to laugh too hard at my mishap folks. I was a klutz on this one and I admit it. The bees forgave me so I ask that you do too.  :-D

Good save! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for part two...you're not going to make us wait 'til next season are you? :-D

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. HAHAHA that has to be one of the best so far. Those poor bees, and after all of that they were still gentle. Good save for sure.

I guess we need to add a small diameter rope to the bee catching tool box, would have worked good to lower it down.

Did Shawee ever find the queen, again??
those hot bees will have you steppin and a fetchin like your heads on fire and your keister is a catchin!!!

Bees will be bees and do as they please!

Still eating all their honey right in front of them after you knock them down and destroy their home.  Instead of bad news bears, it should be called big bad wolf bee removal.

Next time use the rope attached to the branch and lower it slowly.  :-D  Great video.

I had one of these, not quite as big a couple weeks ago JP.  same type of circumstances too.  external nest, kids throwing rocks at it.  and when  I was cutting the comb down, a couple fell.  Now  I don't feel so bad.

It's always good to have a bee buddy with you on these things.  you got a keeper there.

what you need to do is have that shake place send you a few of them so you can keep in the freezer.  Then when you need his help, you can bribe  him with some of those.
heh heh.

I underestimated the height of the hive and should have brought my pole trimmer so Schawee could cut it while I held it. That would have been a much wiser plan in retrospect of course!  :-D

Part two is now up folks!

I really didn't think you could make me smile with this one, but lo and behold!!, I got emotional when they started to march into that box, just so beautiful to see that. Also they were fanning at the entrance to the box.

Also finding the queen in all that mess never ceases to amaze me that anyone is capable of doing that.

Thanks once again JP for this joyful video. The bees were very fortunate to have you as their keeper and helper.

Glad to know I'm not the only klutz...but I think we can blame that limb failure on the jacket and veil, JP...it's hard to see and feel things right when you've got all that stuff on.

And, really, I sort of thought Dude might catch the hive before it hit the ground.

Amazing, isn't it, that the bees took all those oranges and a plunge to the ground and still sweetly walked into their new home? I'm with Annette...they're inspiring.

JP with the opening statements asking us to try and not laugh, I knew something bad was about to happen.

I gotta say I nearly fell out of my chair laughing so hard.

I really feel bad for you, because it is obvious you care alot about the bees, and you look a little sick as it falls.

You handled it well you kept on working and the outcome looks good.

Them sure are some big shakes you two are eating.

Thanks for sharing this experience with us. Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

Good Luck,
 Joe

Thanks for the feedback Joe. This one did not start off well and I thought it was all downhill in a bad way once the colony hit the ground but by some miracle hardly any bees at all were smooshed and the outcome was a success.
