Homeowner sprayed ... lemon grass oil!
« on: May 31, 2011, 12:25:55 pm »
Just received a call about 10 minutes ago from a homeowner. He searched online
and thought people recommend spraying lemon grass oil to kill the bees.
(He also sprayed orange oil). He mentioned that the bees haven't gone away.  Wonder why! :?  :-D

Isn't the internet great.  :-D

Ha, that's funny!

I did buy some wasp spray that was mint oil, maybe he just got the wrong oil.  I wonder if lemongrass oil might do something to keep away mosquitos?

Maybe he was thinking of Chrysanthemum Oil to kill pests.   But I am 100 percent sure that if you used enough lemon grass oil, it would kill bees.  You would just have to completely coat every one.   Just like soapy water.   But a very funny story.    "The bees followed me into the house   :-D"

My guess is he searched on swarms and  found all those mentions of lemongrass oil and it never occurred to him that most people were trying to GET swarms...

Yup, probably. Look at the bees just hanging outside after two days after spraying lemongrass oil.

Lemmon Pledge will attract bees as well.  Don't wax your furniture with it then leave a window open. Liable to find bees on your furniture.
