Has anyone tried this?
« on: April 23, 2006, 05:27:37 pm »
I'm getting ready to add some supers today and It occurred to me to try
rubbing melted bees wax on the top edges of the supers in hopes of
reducing the gluing together of the box edges with propolis.

When trying to separate supers during inspections, the boxes POP
with such violence, It's causing the bees to become more upset
than I'd prefer.

Has anyone ever tried this? Thanks :)

Vaseline or FGMO seem to work better.  But then glued on has it's advantages... especially when the wind blows the lid off.

I have never tried it,  but I think with the heat and pressure, the wax will glue them together too.  I would try vaseline as Michael suggested.

After sitting out in this Texas sunshine, sometimes I think
those boxes are fastened down tighter than the roof of my house
