New here - my macro videos of bees
« on: June 08, 2016, 03:13:19 pm »
I am new to the forum.  I am not a bee-keeper, but I enjoy macro photography.  In the winter I take pictures of snowflakes.  This spring it was bugs.  Now that bees are out, I attempted some pictures but they were too fast for my iphone camera with special macro lens.  So, I thought, "why don't I try the slow motion setting with my macro lens and see what happens?"

this thread will be full of those results.

enjoy!

hopefully these will all load in High definition for you.  If they don't you may have to click to go to the video on youtube and change your settings.

if any of you have any ideas for how to make the videos better, or for what you would like to see, please let me know and I'll do my best to get it done.  I have a lot of clover in my yard and the bees do not care if I get close.  It's like they are high on pollen or something...

Here's one more.  The results I am getting I THINK are good, but maybe you have all seen this all the time and it's nothing for the typical poster here.  All my friends who I have shown think it's like something from National Geographic, but they are also the average person and it may take little to impress them.  I know you all deal with them all the time so let me know if this is nothing special.  You won't hurt my feelings.

(okay, maybe a little)

EBee,
Have you seen a bee collecting pollen on a flower? They land, get pollen on their body, take flight a few inches, gather the pollen with their legs, pack it with their pollen packers, land back on the flower and do it again and again.
It would bee great to see this up close and in slow motion. They pack the pollen very fast and slow motion would help to see what is actually happening.
Please PM Me if you post it. A lot of posts do not show up as new.

I like them all! Amazing, such detail, you did a nice job! I'd love to see what Jim was writing about too - that would be neat to see . Thanks for sharing!
