I bought one of those four way shamrock mating nuc from Mann Lake and I'm looking for advice on setting this thing up.

the question sounds a bit unbounded. what are you asking about, for, what, why, where?

IMHO
As a small time beekeeper I would stay away from this product because the frames in the mating nuc are not full size. I would buy something like this.

It does for me too now after the edit!
I do agree that you should stick with full size frames.
So much easier to get them drawn out and to swap them around.
Standardized equipment will make for less stuff to store at the end of the season too.

IMHO I can tell you what I would do first of all you need to get them drawn out so put this box on top of a strong hive to get this done. After it is drawn out now you can use it. Personally I would not use this product (Mini-Mating Nuc) unless I was raising Queens by the hundreds

Does this box have a fixed bottom on it? Jim's right, the first step is to get the frames drawn and a little brood would be a big plus too. If it has a bottom can you take it off?

Or you could build your own. FatBeeMan has plans on his site dixiebeesupply.com.

You can buy unassembled deep boxes and use a ditto saw on a table saw to cut the grooves in (be for been assembled) and cut petitions out of plywood and cut three boards for the top and use a solid bottom board drill holes in the side for the entrance. I have drill holes in hive 3/4" and I use 3/4"corks for plugging the entrance if I want to. If the boxes are assembled you can use a router to cut grooves in the boxes.

If you are going to use mini nucs. If you are just starting out with foundation. Place about 2cups of bees in the nuc with your queen cell, fill up the feeder and close it up for about 48hrs. Let the first queen lay a little while to help get them going before you catch and place a new cell. This year was my first time using mini nucs and that's how I did it and it worked pretty good. On my second round of queens now.
