Placing a hive body
« on: April 17, 2013, 11:50:32 am »
Hi all,
Quick question. I'm trying to convert all my hive bodies to mediums. Problem is, we got our first swarm this year but only had a shallow honey super with pulled wax to hive them in. We need to super them before too long. Can we just place a medium under the shallow. Will the bees work the foundation and the queen go down to the medium and start laying? I meant to have equipment ready before the spring but time just got away from me.

Thanks.

That will work fine. Once she is laying in the lower box and no brood is in the shallow, place the shallow above your inner cover. they will probably move the honey down below if there is any.
