White Christmas
« on: December 17, 2012, 04:49:24 am »
Are you going to have a white Christmas this year?

It’s been on the mild side so far this winter in Michigan.  We’ve probably been averaging about 5F above normal and really haven’t had any arctic blasts from Canada yet.  This is shaping up to be another great winter for the bees up here.  Maybe those mini mating nucs will be ready for double deeps by May 1st :-D

Another great winter for the bee's you say, wait till later in the week. It's great not to have snow with the middle of Dec. here already. I don't miss it one little bit.

It rained for the last 2 days straight.   Glad it didn't come as snow but I'm sick of mud.  Bring on the cold

I have to go to my  long term memory to put rain into my brain.  Our last rain was the first week of September and my West Texas area is back into drought conditions.  We almost certainly will not have a white Christmas.  We usually have one or two small snows a year, (from three to 10 inches).

may get snow, but right now it's a toss up between drowning and blowing away.  temps are dropping so snow may be coming.

Hey guys, sitting an hours drive to either Ottawa or Kingston, Ontario.  We had a cooler damp October then swung into a fairly nice November.  December has seen more rain than snow unfortunately and this morning it was raining, after everything was coated with ice last nite.  Not the best of drives into work.  Hovering just over freezing most of this week, likely means a green Christmas for us here.  First year Beek, just wish it would settle into winter and forget about these ups and downs in temperature ... can't be good for the girls!

we have had  some snow here in hampshire this winter for about 3 days only 20mm
If they increased energy bill for your home by a factor of 4.5 would you consider that cruel? If so why are you doing that to your bees?

I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be.  Last night we got about 3 inches then about 9:00AM it started raining.  Now it just a big slushy mess.  Then tonight it will all freeze and snow on top.   Fun stuff!!
