I would like some advice on increasing brood production... I have a hive that has like of splotchy brood patterns. If I knew how to attach a picture I would but I don't...

A little late in the season for booming brood. Bees are winding down for fall. But you boost brood, feed 1 to 1 syrup and pollen patties. But I would not advise this at this time of the year.

dfizer, a picture Would really help but "splotchy brood pattern" is kinda vague. Do you mean that the birthing bees are emerging in a spread out/ non uniform pattern or that you have 'pockets' of capped brood here and there about the comb? The first is not a problem and is normal -- the second could be an indication of a failing queen. They do back off brood rearing in the fall. lee...

What does it take to post a pic on this site?

I haven't posted a picture either. Did you try taking a picture with your phone and save, then attach on message? There is a little icon on the top of the post reply to the left under where you bold and change your fonts. It shows a picture and says insert image. I'm guessing this is how to post a pic.
Good luck ...if not maybe someone else can come up with how to do this.

I consider the fall brood period from August 15th till 15 October. In the northeast, you need at least 60 days (Three full brood cycles) to have enough young bees to carry the hive through winter. It is the bees raised in September that make or break a hive in December and January.
To encourage brood, open feeding is the best option. It simulates a flow, stimulates the queen to lay eggs, and also limits the amounts of syrup they can put away by the hours they can fly. This means that they will not backfill the comb and limit the queens ability to lay eggs.
Read this page, and start on August, and you will get a sense of what it's all about.

This might help with posting a picture. A little involved, but once you go through a time or two it's pretty much straight forward.
