Title: REGRESSING
Post by: TwT on February 28, 2005, 10:31:14 am
ok say I was thinking of regressing my bee's, I have pierco foundation which mearsure 5.25, what steps will I have to follow useing foundation, If I go strait to 4.9 foundation from dadant my understanding is that they will mess it up? how would I regress bee's without them build there own comb from blank strips, or do I have to use blank strips? I would reather use foundation. does someone make 5.0 foundation? what steps will I have to follow?

I will go look this info back up but there is something out there like fully drawn comb (plastic) that is either 5.0 or 5.1 and then you dip it in wax. This reduces the size and you shake the bees on to it for their first reduction. Then you can start them on the 4.9 foundation.

M. Bush can tell you more about it. But I will go see what I can find.

If you put them straight onto the 4.9mm wax they will draw it about 5.1mm.  Why waste time only going to 5.25 and the money for the Pierco Frames?  What will you do with the frames when you're done regressing?

Of course if the SuperCell ones hit the market you'll have "instant" regression (at least to 5.0mm).  You can do the same now if you want to go to mediums and you want to wax dip hot PermaComb.  I got 4.95mm right off.
