You surely are getting a geography lesson - It amazes me the VAST areas of the world where I am assume they don't have internet access - look at Russia and Africa, and although I know it is probably foolish of me to relate the NON-MEMBERSHIP from those areas to internet access, I do see patterns forming. It really is eye-opening.

These are the members that contribute or read these posts? Very impressive.

How come its only a few of us who contribute?

These are all members who have written their location in their profiles.

I think some of the members who joined a long time ago are still around - reading posts - but just never feel like posting for some reason. I really like posting. It's not so much that I have a question, but I just like the conversations, seeing what other people are doing around the world, and sharing what's going on in my life. Since it's a beekeeping forum, most of my posts will be about beekeeping - unless it's winter like now. :)
That's my only answer concerning why there are so few members who contribute. Even though their not contributing, I believe they still come by and read stuff.

Way cool.  8)  Cept, nobody in NE with me. *sniffle* But there is hope, last week while driving home I saw two hives in someone’s back yard, might go over when the weather warms up and say "hi".

The blue numbers won't work for me, but that's just like my computer.

I mean the people who post their location as:

These are Not actual samples, but close...

Somewhere between my front yard and back yard.
Near where I park my car.
Close to the Interstate.
Near my Baby-Daddy's Uncle's Mamma.
About THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSS far from a major Ocean.

You know the ones - lol.

It's just hard to get a straight answer. Keep up the mapping, awesome work!!!

Some people are uncomfortable with giving out their real location online.  I never used to give it out, now I'll give out my state.

What can I do to make this work for me. There are 8 from VT and I'd be interested in knowing where they are.

As for why some people don't post more, if they are like me, I don't feel I know enough to give advice but I am interested in what others have to say.

The images shown directly on this page are not "clickable" (due to very frustrating (but understandable) technical limits of phpBB). Use this link (the link is also directly under the map above) to get a map where you can click on the numbers. You can also look at this textfile to get a full list of members sorted by state.

Thanks for your help. I did get to the map that "works". It was fun to see where everyone is. Some of the folks from Vermont are a little vague about their location but at least one is fairly close.

Yep!  Now we are down to three missing states.  We used to have 5 or 6 some months ago.  Didn't spot this myself as the updating is semi automatic :-) Cool

John - I just came across this thread....hope my location is listed OK

It's been a while since I posted this link, so I can't think of a better area right now to post the link to the DEGREE CONFLUENCE PROJECT @ http://www.confluence.org - quick recap about this 5 STAR website: Around the planet there are thousands of intersecting longitude and latitude locations on the globe. The theme of this site is for ordinary people to trek to these locations ( called Confluences ) and take photos of the exact intersection, and images North, South, East and West while standing at that confluence.
The adventures use GPS devices to prove their location - see the actual photo of the location documented by camera and all the photos of villages, cities and the secluded wilds of the world.

Very interesting site...thanks!!!  For anyone else interested in GPS exploring check out this site  http://www.geocaching.com/

All I can get is one name and that is listed vertically.  Am I doing it wrong?  I'm clicking on the blue number.  Did I botch it again?  Thanks!!
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

Hi!  You didn't botch anything, but spotted a bug in the system.  I have fixed the bug now, although I still scracth my head to find out what really happened to my code :-)  Thanks for telling me.

The maps are once again updated (except for a couple of new countries I need to add to the map, and which I will do soon).

The server seems to be down for some reason.  I better check with the university what is going on down there :-)

Update a few hours later:  I reported the faulty server the IT department, and now it's back up.
