Want a cutout video?
« on: May 01, 2007, 04:06:25 pm »
I am doing another one next week and I have a digital camera that does video. I wanted to record the last one, but my camera crew (my wife) quit on me :'( . I can record 8 minutes of video so that does not really cover a whole cutout; what parts does everybody want to see?

1. The hive in raw form before anything is cutout.
2. The tools you use and why
3. The removal of a piece of brood comb.
4. The relocation of the bees.
5. The location after the cutout
6. The bees in the new place
7. How long it took and how dirty you got and the level of difficulty doing it.
7a. How many times you got stung. :-D
8. A 2 week aftermath report on the status of the hive even if it failed.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

failure???? that isn't an option!

I just have to figure out how to run the camera and do the work at the same time. I had a tripod that would have worked good, but I goodwilled it about three months ago because I hadn't ever used it  My camera can record non stop, but the web hosts only alow 8 min clips.....I might need to do several short sections and they will just have to be watched in order.

It may not be an option but it is a reality.

We call it editing. And no one wants to watch you do four hours of a cut out. Just edit it down to the good parts like when they all get inside your veil and you are running down the street.

Think of it like the book Das Boot 80 pages of sheer boredom followed by 25 pages of intense action then 80 pages and then 25 pages, etc.. You just edit out the 80 pages.

I can't edit anything, cheap camera, what you shoot is what you get.

I will make a guess you are running the windows operating system. If you are running XP you can download Window Movie Maker. It's free and will edit movies for you from your video camera.
