Manzanita
« on: March 09, 2006, 11:44:46 pm »
I have lots of manzanita on my property and in the area.  It is blooming now and I'm wondering if it is a significant source of nectar or pollen for my bees.

Thanks!
Darlene

P.S. Also, does anyone know a good site to locate a list of significant bee plants in the Northern California area?

I heard in a beg. beekeeping class that manzanita makes great honey! In our class text, manzanita is listed in bold for the month of march (in Grass Valley) as a significant source for the bees. Good luck.
