Title: Greetings, Hudson Valley, NY
Post by: Orlando on July 01, 2012, 11:52:36 am
Hello all ... located in Hudson Valley region of NY. New to beekeeping. I have 2 hives and will probably add a few more. I decided on all 8 frame mediums ... foundationless. Beekeeping is great!

I've found a local hive supplier.... However, I am looking for a good bee supplier (i.e. northern queens/nucs/packages).

Welcome to the forum,Orlando.  Going foundationless is a little harder.  You will have to keep a check while they are drawing frames and straighten them when needed.  I got my hives last dec., they were established hives.  They were 1 deep brood and 2 shallow supers.  I have them in 2 deeps and several supers now.  It made it some easier to have some drawn frames to mix with foundationless.   I got some spring honey and will do summer in a few week.  People are asking for comb honey.   Good luck with your bees.

Joe

@Joe...very true about making the comb straight. I've had to do that already.
