Bee Tree, Maybe, we'll See
« on: February 19, 2011, 08:39:19 pm »
While walking in the woods the dog and I stopped in our tracks when the distinct scent of a bee hive wafted by.  Open knot holes could be seen in the tree overhead, but no bees were apparent.  The wind was dead calm, and the scent was only under that tree.

We will visit again on a warm afternoon and see what is up.

Bee trees usually have the entrances covered in propolis.  The propolis is a give-away even in cold weather when the bees aren't flying.
