Last week with cold and snow here, I found a lot of dead bees on the snow fanned out from the hive entrance -was worried but then noted that most of them were drones. i was surprised that there would still be so many drones in the hive at this point. Perhaps the first spell of temps in the teens put the squeeze on them? I don't think that they had come out to cleanse - too cold. Today it was near 60, and I saw what looked like a standard summertime orientation flight, so I'm glad to see the hive looking healthy.
