Greetings from Madoc, Ontario, Canada
« on: September 21, 2013, 09:33:27 am »
Greetings folks!

I am located in the small village of Madoc, Ontario, which is located about half way between Toronto and Ottawa.  I have had an interest in keeping bees for several years and finally decided to take the leap with plans to set up a couple of hives in Spring 2014.  My gardens suffer from a lack of pollinators especially early in the season.  Food security is also an interest of mine and, with the recent bee losses, it seems to me that a lot of people keeping a few bees could be helpful.
Regards, Dennis
First bees installed July 1, 2014.

Welcome to the forum Dennis.  :cheer:

With winter coming, it is a good time to read, read, read. You might want to look for a local bee keeping club, They can be a big help for years to come. They might also have a mentoring program to work with you. And of course you are welcome to ask questions of the forum. We are here to help other beeks (and to toot our own horns if we do something new and exciting for ourselves.)  -Mike

Welcome to the forum, DMLinton.  Glad you found us.  Besides reading and learning some of the things you will need, you can also build some of your equipment if you want.  Good luck, beek is addictive.
