weak harvest

While there are still some more frames that need capped and I will go get them in a week.... I only got 18 frames of honey that is about 60lbs..... from three hives.(2 new this year one a year old) there should be another maybe 30 lbs after they cap it.....

Anybody doing any good this fall.....?????

dark....medium dark honey...... as far as what nectar, I would have to say some golden rod....(which we had a ton of this year) ...... and what ever else is blooming this year......

 yea it takes awhile to learn the bloom-customers like to hear

No I took a spring harvest off the one established hive, about 50 lbs in the spring , nice light color and very sweet.....

however based on what the first year hive did las year, I was thinking at least 150 + pound o honey from that one hive and at least 50 to the combination of the two new hives.

I got 3 5 gal pails (60lbs) full from 5 supers (3 colonies). Pretty good for my small operation.

I got 180# from 2 of my 3 fives. One that started last year (and made 4 splits from, first 1 and then 3 more from the 2 hives, 2 did not make it) gave me @ 140# the first split provided another 40#. All 3 are working on spanish needle and golden rod right now.

I pulled what I considered a weak harvest this fall. Acres and acres of Goldenrod but crappy weather. I believe the bees were consuming nearly as much as they were bringing in.

After a black bear nearly wiped me and bees out this past spring, I'm lucky to have any bees, but we did get about 20 lbs of honey from the three survivor colonies over the summer and 'that' is a bonus, all things considered.

I got 80#s off a second year hive and 10#s off another.  My light-colored honey is probably from white clover, alfalfa, and knapweed.  I struggled to keep my hives queenright due to lots of cold rainy weather early on.  My weak hive going into last winter produced the honey and my three strong hives barely stayed alive this summer after swarming because I couldn't get a mated queen even with multiple attempts.
