Post by: OPAVP on February 21, 2014, 10:23:05 pm
I know this is not really a new topic, but:
Who has a couple of years experience with Beemax hives?

I have been putting foam around my hives for the winter, but cant keep the mice out.
Hope to hear from you guys.
Thanks a lot.

I've been using them for close to 10 years now.  Wouldn't winter my hives in anything else.

I don't have the beemax brand but similar hives, the entrance in my hives is to small for mice, if not reduce it to the right size.

Haven't yet had any mice that have eaten through the hive walls.

I have about 6??  maybe 8??  there probably 5 years old now.  Hive bodies are okay,  bottoms suck.  Beemax lids only (bodies are like 1 1/2 thick)
Fine for hobbiest,  not so great if you move hives a lot as they don't fit stuff....  Nice and light!  duribilty has been fine,  no complaints.
