honey testing positive for explosives
« on: January 05, 2010, 11:09:24 pm »
Thought this was interesting: There is an article by Reuters of honey testing positive for explosives at an airport in California today.  I don't seem to be smart enough to post the link, so maybe someone else can do that.

When the bottles were opened, two of the screeners smelled a strong chemical odor, complained of nausea and were rushed to a local hospital, where they treated and released, Kern County Sheriff's spokesman Michael Whorf said.

"The substances in the bottles did turn out to be honey. They tested negative for all explosives and narcotics. It is nothing but honey," FBI spokesman Steve Dupre told Reuters.

Must have been some funky smelling honey

If you were going to open a jar of an unknown suspected bad compound would you first suit up with hazard gear and a mask.? Just a thought from an amateur.

For every person that I know that does not like goldenrod honey, I easily find two more that love it.  God bless them.  lol

Bakersfeild is right down the road so my local paper was happy to have something worthwhile to dig into.
So far it looks like the guy is a gardener and the traces of TNT were fertalizer...  As dumb as it looks now we'd be raking the TSA over the coals if they found a trace of TNT and a strange sticky liquid in gatorade bottles and didn't bring everything to a screeching halt.
If it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger... Or maims you for life.
