Quick word of thanks to Irwin and Robo
« on: June 20, 2009, 10:26:44 am »
Just wanted to drop a 'thank you' to Irwin and Robo for posting and publicizing the information about constructing the 'Queen Intro Frame'.
I have a split that has been just mean as anything when it came to getting a queen into it.  First, I tried to let it make its own queen - that failed.  Two dead purchased queens later (tried an intro cage and hanging the queen cage, both failed - found empty cages, but no queens), I was resigned to letting it go or recombining it with another hive - but I stumbled into the Queen Intro Frame.  I put it together and had an extra, banked queen.  She is in there now and all seems to be well.  I will update when I check in two weeks.

Point being - you guys gave me another option and I appreciate it.

Mike

Sounds interesting, how about a link to the information?

Robo did all the work all I did was try it out and it worked for me.

This system works very well and I went one step further by adding some capped honey foundation with open cells. The queen laying, and the brood smell, seems to help acceptance.

Jim

That is just great.  Thank you so much for this link.  I did receive a PM from Robo though and may have a chance of getting one from him at some point.  But nice to know these are available elsewhere also.

Take care
Annette
