Mites?
« on: December 16, 2008, 05:08:33 pm »
Saw a dark spot on the landing board out though my window so I went out to check and that is what it was just a dark spot.
So I gave a tap on the hive just to see if I can hear any buzzing (been in the lower 30s for a month now) and the out side of the hive jumped with little mites I think.
I had no problem all season,,, these guys are little smaller than a pin head and they jump around like fleas.
Do not want to crack open the hive to check due to its only been in the 30s here and do not want to chill them.
How should I handle this at this time of year?

You won't be able to see a mite on your landing board from your house.  The time to do things is over.  See what spring brings.

I have 100/100 vision lol.
The spot was just a wear spot where the girls land and it got wet and darkened.(landing board is painted white)
So I guess I'll just let be and tend to it in the spring,,,thanks Mike
