Ok today I was doing some maintainance near my hive and I notice what looked like yellow and orange clumps of stuff all over the bottom board of the hive. They look sort of like sand grains is this pollen?

Makes me wonder what they teach you in HOME SCHOOL :P

Some pollen doesn't pack as tight as other, typically it's a moisture issue. Dryer pollen falls apart easier then moist pollen. The particles are the same size (tiny) but they just don't pack as tight.

Of course, making sure they yellow and orange thingys DON'T move is important. We have redish/orange CEMENT BUGS (not sure of the real name, but here in the Upper Pinelands (massive protected wilderness area) of the Garden State (New Jersey to those who do not know) we have these tiny tiny tiny bugs that LIVE in porous concrete, which is an ideal home for these miny bugs that are about 1/5th the size of varroa.

Sounds like pollen though :)

By the Way... Two 15 year olds (I might be off a year on one of you) both beekeepers, both ham operators, both home schooled - what a small world it is!

Well I figure it was pollen I wanted to see if it was maybe was some type of bee eating fungus or soemthing :D :D
