Title: One year in
Post by: jessie1324 on May 04, 2012, 09:55:34 pm
I got my first nuc on Memorial Day Weekend last year.  Survived the winter.

And in the last 2 weeks I have seen, caught, and hived 3 swarms so my bee yard has grown.

Having a great time in South Eastern PA

Congratulations, I wish you continued success in the expansion of your bee yard.  How many hives do you want to end up with? I started the year with 2, lost one and I am up to 6. My goal is 10 or 12 by the end of the year and maybe 20 by next year.  Don't really have a plan but retirement is maybe 10 years away and building it up now so that I will have something to keep me busy later on and maybe provide a little extra spending money.

Thanks for the support.

As to the swarms they were just all dumb luck.  10 minits in either direction and I would have had no idea they happened.  Also the ability to make new boxes and bottom boards on the fly helps.
