Unusual Bee-havior
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:58:37 pm »
Watching my two hives yesterday afternoon, about three o clock, found something I've never seen before.
There were 10 bees on the hive just above the entrance prancing up and down on the right side of hive. After watching for a long time looked at the other hive next to it and they were doing the same prancing except they were on the bottom board about in the middle.
They weren't fanning the hive to cool it off they were just going back and forth while facing the entrance, more like up and down a step or two. really weird to see this. The whole time I watched the number stayed the same, 10 bees.
Any body ever see this behavior before and if so what were they doing? :? :?
